All Saints Sunday
Well, we're having a little different service this week. Because it's All Saints Day (on a Sunday even!) we'll be commemorating that during our prayer time. I put a section in the bulletin called "Remembering the Saints." This can be as simple as reading the names in our Memorial Fund or more if desired. We could also add a verse or two of "For All The Saints" here if it was wanted. That's up to someone besides me.
It's also a special interview Sunday with me as the interviewee. So I got to pick the hymns (I know...I do that every week, but this week I picked my favorites!) and the scriptures. So here's the info for this week.
Worship Leaders
- Music Leader: Lisa Haley
- Accompanist: Ann Willard
- Liturgist: Allen Foster
- Interviewer: Lisa Haley
- Interviewee: Gerry Brague
- Elder: John Swan
- Communion Celebrant: Loma Eaves

Scripture
- Genesis 32:24-31
- Psalm 8 (this is in the back of the Chalice Hymnal at number 728)
- Micah 6:6-8
- Romans 8:26-39
Hymns
- It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, CH 153
- How Can I Keep from Singing. I know this is in the CH but I really don't like that version and will have an insert with the words from the version in the New Century Hymnal. Ann, do you have a copy of the NCH? If not, I can scan the music and email it to you.
- Come, O Thou Traveler Unknown. This isn't in the CH so I'll do an insert with the words. The tune is in the CH at #711
- Lisa, you know how I said I had 4 hymns picked out and you said we'd do the 4th during gathering? Well the 4th one is "Abide With Me" CH636. I know it's an evening hymn but I love it anyway. (And if you could be sure we do the 4th verse, that would be great.)
Liturgy
Call to Worship
We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses.
Death has no dominion over them.
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Prayer of Approach
Almighty God,
your people of all the ages live and praise you without ceasing.
In our communion with you, we have communion with generations past and generations yet unborn.
Before your throne we are one with a great multitude which no one could number,
and in praising you we join with those from every nation.
Grant to your church on earth
that as we celebrate the triumph of your saints in glory
we may profit by their example and enter with them into the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you, through Jesus Christ our Lord...
I'm doing the bulletins and the inserts...I'm assuming that everything else in the service I'm not doing (except the comfy pink chair) unless I hear otherwise. Okay?
